AI can generate code but lacks true understanding and context. It highlights the need for engineers to frame problems and make architectural choices. My anxieties about AI shifted when I realized it accelerates my work rather than replaces my role. I moved from fearing obsolescence to recognizing that my value lies in curating and guiding the solutions AI proposes, not in writing every line of code. I no longer feel like I'm becoming irrelevant; instead, I’m reminded that the core of software engineering remains unchanged: I decide what to build and why it matters.
